There are a variety of types of activities that increase your walking or fitness. You can create a by tracking new routine daily steps and logging them into your FitBit, or you can challenge a friend to a walking challenge. Your spouse, co-worker or neighbor can help you participate by doing the same. Walk in the Park
According to an article in the Washington Post, there are 28,500 acres of public park land in the Washington, D.C. area. That is a huge number! All you have to do is lace up a pair of walking shoes and head out into the neighborhood. If you can’t find a park, try to find a green area in your neighborhood that is suitable for walking.
Take a Walk Around the Neighborhood
If you’re looking for an activity to get the family involved in, take a walk around the neighborhood. Some areas offer jogging or walking trails, or even nature trails for walking and hiking. Take advantage of the wildlife and beautiful scenery that you find in nature, and get your family involved in a fun new hobby.
Walking While on Vacation
If you are traveling to an area that has a lot of walking trails, consider walking along the path on your way to the day’s destination. It is a nice way to get some exercise during your trip, but not quite as boring as spending the entire time in the car.
